DartDrones Swims Away with $300k from ABC's Shark Tank

Last night, WIN Lab entrepreneur and Babson College alumna Abby Speicher headed to ABC's Shark Tank to pitch her drone training and educational courses to the sharks. Abby's company, DARTdrones has 45 flight instructors in more than 40 cities and has trained thousands of pilots, working with a large number of organizations across the country.

Speicher, part of the WIN Lab's second cohort in Boston, MA, walked into the Shark studio asking for $300,000 in return for 10% of the company. While Mr. Wonderful tried to persuade her to take a deal for 15%, Mark Cuban swooped in and agreed to the precise offer she had been negotiating for.

On track to reach $1.2 million in sales this year, Speicher is looking to re-develop the teaching curriculum so that it is geared towards users like public safety and other groups interested in learning how to fly. And as the only national school, with colleges already approaching her about licensing their teaching courses, it looks like DartDrones is, indeed, flying in the right direction.
