Stay creative and keep experimenting. The only way you're going to learn and optimize is to try and see."

- Jessica Coane, Founder of PEX+

We sat down with Founder Jessica Coane to learn more about what prompted her to start her travel venture PEX+ and her advice for globe-trotters and entrepreneurs.

Q. Tell us what prompted you to start your venture, PEX+?

PEX+ is the travel search technology helping consumers and corporations maximize their miles and points. Through our unique model, we equally help loyalty programs tap into a new multi-billion dollar market. I quickly discovered the value of loyalty programs growing up in a single-parent household. They weren’t merely a gateway to occasional vacations, but helped enhance reality as well. Loyalty programs helped provide gas for the car, extra food for the fridge, and well-needed buying power. I always desired to bring this knowledge back to the community to help others benefit from the value of loyalty programs, but wouldn’t figure out the best course of action until later in life.

Q. What has been your greatest success so far in your entrepreneurial journey and why?

I'm a gracious person by nature so I'm thankful every achievement we've made, but I feel that simply going live is our biggest achievement thus far as it's a milestone not achieved by many startups in general.

Q. What is one of the most important things you have learned while building your venture?

Stay creative and keep experimenting. The only way you're going to learn and optimize is to try and see.

Q. What is your top travel hack?

I generally fly free domestically, but my best hack was for our honeymoon, we flew Etihad from New York to Johannesburg for $370 per person round trip. The best suggestion I can provide is that value is always subjective so analyze your travel habits and optimize to your needs and check often.

Q. What are your top three must-read content sources for entrepreneurs, e.g. websites, blogs, podcasts?

I like to skim through Techcrunch for a general feel for the startup economy and new startups, biographies of successful founders such as Steve Jobs, and industry news like Tnooz and Skift.
